WAYS TO SHIPING FROM CHINA TO MALAYSIA
Air freight and sea freight are the 2 main ways you can ship from China to Malaysia.
AIR FREIGHT
Air freight refers to the transportation of a shipment via an air carrier. It is the fastest way to ship your items, making it ideal for time-sensitive shipments.
It is also considered as the most cost-efficient way of shipping packages that are small and light (below 30kg).

SEA FREIGHT
Sea freight transports your cargo from one seaport to another using huge shipping containers and pallets. This can be done via 2 methods: Less than Container Load (LCL) and Full Container Load (FCL).
LCL
LCL shipping is recommended if you do not have sufficient cargo to fill a container on your own. Your shipment will be consolidated with others so that you can enjoy competitive shipping rates.
FCL
FCL is a type of sea freight shipping whereby all goods in the container belong to a single shipper. Depending on the total amount of cargo you need to ship, you can choose from containers that are 20 inch and 40 inch in size.

WHEN SHOULD I USE AIR FREIGHT OR SEA FREIGHT?
Before deciding on whether to ship via air or sea freight, you will first need to consider some important factors such as:
- The nature of your cargo
- The size and weight of your shipment
- How fast you need your item delivered
- Your budget
Generally, sea freight is the cheaper but slower option. It is recommended for shipments that are larger in size and can afford a longer lead time. Meanwhile, air freight is ideal for the shipment of smaller cargo and those with a shorter lead time. However, it is also more expensive as compared to sea freight.
When it comes to the shipping of potentially hazardous goods, air freight has much stricter restrictions. Thus, sea freight might be the better option if you meet the dangerous good regulations, and are looking to ship items such as:
- Flammable goods (paint, perfume, varnish etc.)
- Toxic substances (forensic material, biological products etc.)
- Corrosive items (batteries, sodium hydroxide etc.)
- Radioactive equipment (x-ray machines, ores, medical isotopes etc.)
