The cost of a shipment can be affected by the amount of space that it occupies on an aircraft, a ship or a train, rather than the actual weight. This is the volumetric (or dimensional) weight. The volumetric weight of a shipment is a calculation that reflects the density of a package. A less dense item generally occupies more volume of space, in comparison to its actual weight. The volumetric or dimensional weight is calculated and compared with the actual weight of the shipment to ascertain which is greater; then Chargeable Weight is the higher weight data between the actual weight and volumetric weight.

Why should i submit the detailed information of my goods?

Why the carton size you measured after warehousing is different from my factory told me?
Because during the transportation from your factory to our warehouse, the cartons will deform due to squeezing.
In fact, different routes have different requestment on the size of cartons. If the deformed size exceeds these limits, it will incur high additional costs and even be rejected by the freight company. Therefore, it is very important to use a strong carton, and the size of the carton is recommended to be confirmed with us before making it.
On the way from your factory to our warehouse, the outer cartons will deform due to extrusion. The following picture is an example:
When the carton is measured in your factory, the size data obtained is l and h. After arriving in our warehouse, we will actually measure L and H. These different size data will lead to different Volumetric weights. Therefore, we must use the data actually measured when your items arrive our warehouse as the basis for charges.
